“She believed she could, so she did.” No one worked harder or fought harder than our daughter, Jamie. A single mother to her two boys after the death of her husband from brain cancer, she fulfilled her promise to him by completing her doctorate in December of 2018. She was an assistant dean in student affairs at TCU.
On March 11, 2019, Jamie was killed in a traffic accident by a drunk driver. She had elected to donate her organs on her Texas driver’s license. That was our Jamie — always ready to help other people. We had heard about organ donation and read about it, yet seeing the process was amazing. As a family, we were blessed in so many ways, and Jamie’s final gift was nothing less than heroic. We praise God that her lungs and her kidneys will allow four other people a chance at a better life.
