Nine and a half years ago, I received a lung transplant. I had been on oxygen for about a year and a half and was not doing very well. The first doctor I saw told me that I wouldn’t qualify for a transplant due to my age and diabetes. The answer wasn’t good enough for me so I got a new doctor, and he sent me to a transplant team.
Today I am doing well. I have been blessed with three more granddaughters which I am sure that I would have never met. Rarely does a day go by that I don’t think of my donor. For someone that you never knew, it is hard to accept. I am very thankful. I can hear a song, see a movie, or see something beautiful. I have now traveled to all 50 states and a good part of Canada. Hopefully, I will get to see and hear a lot more.
